A Glimpse into Tomorrow’s Tech: Our Highlights From CES 2024

The 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was held last week in Las Vegas, with more than 135,000 tech enthusiasts from over 150 countries marveling at the innovations on display.

With an astounding 4,300+ exhibits and over 1,200 startups showcasing their products, CES offered a glimpse of the future of consumer technology.

From advancements in digital health, Generative AI, sustainability, vehicle tech, space tech, gaming, and more, this year's CES demonstrated just how brilliant the best use cases of today's most cutting-edge technologies can be. Here are some of our highlights:

Automotive Speeds into the Future

CES showcased futuristic car technologies that may seem like the stuff of sci-fi, but could be hitting the road before we know it. We were especially impressed by Sony Depthsensing Solutions, which provides 3D vision and gesture recognition technologies for the automotive industry, among others. This car safety innovation leverages RADAR, LiDAR, and cameras to deliver 360 degree perception, enabling faster responses to dangers and obstacles on the road.

LG unveiled its Living Space on Wheels, which aims to “redefine vehicle dynamics through high-performance computing and software mastery.” Honda premiered its new EV series for global markets, which champions connected technologies, AD/ADAS, and outstanding electricity efficiency performance.

CES 2024 also showed us that immersive Web 3.0 technologies are alive and well–from virtual showrooms to VR test drives. Journee is one player at the forefront of mobility innovation. The company recently partnered with BMW to integrate immersive digital experiences into the vehicle’s operating system.

AI-Driven Everything–From Your Toothbrush to Your Pillow

AI is the driving force behind many of the innovations on show at CES. From the HD Hyundai cabless excavator to Oclean smart toothbrush that gives you tips on your brushing technique, CES was a powerful reminder of how much AI has infiltrated virtually every industry. There's even an AI-powered pillow, which detects snoring levels and automatically adjusts its airbags to adjust your head and clear up airways.

Next-Generation Media and Entertainment Tech

LG’s transparent TV stole the show in TV innovation, pushing the boundaries of design innovation. Across the conference hall, micro LED screens competed on size and stunning picture quality to bring the cinema experience to the living room.

Meanwhile, content production tools got even more impressive with Sony’s Torchlight production facility that generates groundbreaking visualizations for movies using its Venice 2 camera tech and AI.

Healthcare's High-Tech Transformation

Healthtech experts discussed the impact of AI, including how it can speed up clinical trials and time-to-market of life-saving drugs, using real-world data and evidence. Siemens displayed advanced prosthetics, while Exosystems presented new diagnostic tools for neuromuscular and central nervous system diseases.

We also saw accessibility innovations, including Gyrogear’s stabilizing gloves for people with Parkinson’s, AI-powered speech assistants for those with vocal impairments from Whispp, and radical improvements in hearing aid tech using AI from Orcam.

AI and AR Shaping the Future of Commerce

Walmart showcased technologies that are transforming retail and the customer experience. The retail giant is offering expanded drone delivery in Texas as well as AR shopping experiences to enable online shoppers to try on outfits virtually. Walmart is also collaborating with Microsoft on a system that offers AI-powered, personalized purchase suggestions.

CES 2024 was a fascinating glimpse into the future, and we can’t wait for next year’s event.
